2017 RTA Changes Arising from Bill 124 – Rental Fairness Act, 2017

The Residential Tenancies Act, 2006, continues to change as a result of amendments contained in Bill 124 – Rental Fairness Act, 2017.  Bill 124 was passed by the Ontario Legislative Assembly on May 18, 2017, received Royal Assent on May 30, 2017 and has significantly impacted the landlord community.  The most recent amendments to the RTA became effective on January 1, 2018.

Harry Fine is a licensed paralegal and educator, he is a former adjudicator of the Ontario Rental Housing Tribunal, and a former member of LSHC’s Board of Directors.  Harry has spoken to LSHC’s membership and community on many occasions and is committed to educating small landlords. Harry Fine has generously agreed to share educational material he’s developed outlining the 2017 RTA Changes arising from Bill 124, Rental Fairness Act, 2017, to help the small landlord community gain a full understanding of the changes and how they will be affected by them.
